Strong feelings of negativity for Bob Costas

Notice I didn't say "hate"- I'm trying to be a kinder JAR these days.
But I really don't like Bob Costas.
I think he is pompous and arrogant.
Last night Bill and I watched a special on HBO:

The town hall thing.

It was late-ish at night so I wanted to cuddle up with Bill and just watch something sort of mind numbing- I don't even remember what we were watching before when he stumbled on this show.
It made me so mad that I left the room (well that and Bill tuned in to LOST, which I have given up on, yet again).
Here is the synopsis of the show:
SynopsisOne of the most accomplished broadcasters of his generation, Bob Costas returns with a special live edition of HBO Sports' COSTAS NOW on TUESDAY, APRIL 29 (10:00-11:30 p.m. live ET/tape-delayed PT), exclusively on HBO. COSTAS NOW spotlights fast-breaking, topical stories that continually emerge in today's sports arena. Employing a town hall setting, April's live show will expand to 90 minutes for its exploration of contemporary sports media. Each segment will be devoted to a specific topic and begin with a video piece, followed by a different live panel of high-profile sports personalities, broadcasters, journalists and executives, who will join Costas for an in-depth discussion. The five hot-button subjects that will be explored during the program include:
Segment One: Sports Talk Radio.
Video interviews: Chicago radio host Mike North, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward, Chicago Sun-Times columnist Jay Mariotti and WFAN radio hosts Mike and the Mad Dog. Live panel: New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan, best-selling author and radio host Mitch Albom and WFAN radio host Christopher "Mad Dog" Russo.

Segment Two: The Internet and Impact of Bloggers. Video interviews: deadspin.com editor Will Leitch, TV writer and media critic Michael Schur and Washington Post columnist and "PTI" host Michael Wilbon. Live panel: Pulitzer Prize-winning author Buzz Bissinger, Will Leitch and Cleveland Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards.

Segment Three: Sports Television. Video interviews: NBC Sports broadcaster Al Michaels, former ABC and NBC executive and producer Don Ohlmeyer and syndicated columnist Norman Chad. Live panel: Fox Sports broadcaster Joe Buck, ESPN broadcaster Mike Tirico and Sports Illustrated's Dan Patrick.

Segment Four: Athletes and the Media: A Complicated Marriage. Video interviews: Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor, former NBA star and Turner Sports analyst Charles Barkley, Chicago columnist Sam Smith and NBC Sports broadcaster Al Michaels. Live panel: NBC's Tiki Barber, Sports Illustrated columnist Selena Roberts and tennis analyst and former tennis star John McEnroe.

Segment Five: A Discussion on Race. Video interviews: Washington Post columnist and "PTI" host Michael Wilbon, former NFL star Kellen Winslow, Sr., and espn.com editor-in-chief Rob King. Live panel: former NFL star and current ESPN commentator Cris Carter and Kansas City Star columnist Jason Whitlock.

We only made it thru segments 1 & 2.
The second one was the one that PISSED ME OFF.
This guy is a COMPLETE ASSHOLE:
Buzz Bissinger
Between him and Costas I wanted to run into the tv and start throwing punches.
They were both so negative about bloggers and the idea of blogging bc it isn't "real journalism" and blah blah blah.
The guy, Will Leitch , was the one being targeted. He runs the website: www.deadspin.com.
Buzz the cocksucker was all over him, even bringing various posts that he read out loud. He called the blog "disgusting" etc.
Apparently no one wanted to remind him that he went to a little town in Texas and took total advantage of the football program there by writing his book "Friday Night Lights".
It was just Costa's supreme arrogance during that segment that fired me up.

Overall I was just mad because it was like we were supposed to feel sorry for athletes.
The segment on talk radio was centered around the fact that shows are becoming increasingly too negative and "mean" regarding athletes.
yeah, not going to feel sorry for people who make a gazzilion dollars a year.

There were just so many moments I would have given ANYTHING to be a bug in these guys ears and fed them what I wanted them to say.
But I would have been screaming it because I was so mad that I may have damaged their hearing...

I am getting mad all over again thinking about it.
My main point, in case it was muddled up in all this ranting is that Bob Costas is someone I would like to take to my job and have him "test" one of our new "machines"....
